Empowering Disabled Children, Young Adults And Their Families

Umbrella Job Vacancies

Welcome To Umbrella

We are a charity in Derby supporting disabled children, young people and their families, helping people realise their potential and helping to transform lives.

Year of the garden

This year we are aiming to raise an extra £5,000 so that we can improve our garden. We have a large space that we feel can be turned into a wonderful place for all to enjoy. We envisage soft floor surfaces, a sensory area, our summerhouse and beautiful borders. We will update our website to let you know how our fundraising is coming along and will post pictures of the work that we plan to carry out early in 2016.

We raised £1,700 at the race night in March which was a great start to the garden project fund.

Volunteering, A ‘Win - Win’ Activity!

Volunteering may help someone else to:

Gain confidence,

Have fun,

Make friends,

Learn new skills

But it may also help you:

Feel rewarded,

Learn new skills,

Have fun,

Try a new career,

Experience something new

We have lots of different volunteer opportunities, which you can find out about on our Volunteering page, and we’re also looking for regular volunteers for the following clubs:

 Belper Saturday Club

Fortnightly at the Sure Start Centre from 10am until 1pm

 Long Eaton Teatime Club

Fortnightly in Long Eaton Community Youth Centre from 2pm until 6pm

 Woodville Saturday Club

Held on the last Saturday of the month at the Woodville Youth Centre from 10am until 4pm

If you’re already an Umbrella volunteer who can help regularly at any of these clubs, please give Sally a call at the office or drop her an email.

We’re also looking for a volunteer fundraiser with bucket loads of enthusiasm and drive to organise fundraising events.  This could be anything from arranging a ‘tin shaking’ day at a Derby Football match to organising a garden party to rallying people together to run a marathon for Umbrella.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, or would simply like to find out more about our opportunities, or what’s involved in volunteering, there is more information on our Volunteering Page, or you can call Sally for a chat on 01332 521229.
