Umbrella Derby & Derbyshire  has been commissioned by the Council for Disabled Children (CDC)  over the last four years to provide Independent Support for parents, children and young people. The Independent Support programme was always intended to be a time limited resource, supporting the transition from Statements to Educational Health and Care Plans. It was originally intended to last 18 months, yet went on to be funded for 4 years and 4 months.

Unfortunately, the Independent Support Service will no longer be funded by the Department of Education via CDC. Additional funding has not been provided therefore,  Independent Support  will be  coming to an end on the 31 July 2018.

Umbrella is proud to have been a part of this programme which has enabled our staff to support many families through the EHCp process. We will continue to support parents over the next few months with the  EHCp assessment applications, draft plans and annual reviews.

From August 2018 advice and support will continue to be available to families through their local SEND Information, Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) and also through the national Contact helpline. 0808 808 3555
