Children's Services

For children living in Derby City

Umbrella can offer one-to-one support in our fun and exciting group sessions including weekend day trips and school holiday play schemes.

Essential Life Skills

We work closely with the family to encourage children to develop independent skills and continue to grow in confidence. We also teach skills such as how to stay safe and encourage healthy options through cooking. But most of all we aim to have fun!

To refer your child you will need to send an Early Help Assessment (EHA) to Derby City Council. Details of which can be found here.

For children living in Derbyshire County

Positive activities

For children up to 18 years living in Amber Valley, Erewash, South Derbyshire, and South Derbyshire Dales. Support is very flexible and activities are planned to meet children’s individual needs. Activities can vary from trampolining sessions, swimming, bowling, or trips to local farms to name but a few.

Group Activities

We can offer small group support to children up to the age of 18 years living in South Derbyshire and the South Dales. Our well-trained staff run specialist play schemes every holiday and day trips at the weekends.  We take the young people out into the community, including parks, farms, swimming, and ice skating, as well as running onsite sessions at one of our centres, either Umbrella House Mackworth or The Annie Hall Centre in Derby. These activities can help develop children’s social skills, self-confidence, and independence.

Umbrella will work collaboratively with health professionals, local statutory and voluntary sector agencies to help negotiate and signpost families to other information and support.
