How You Can Help

We aim to raise at least £50,000 each year to transform the lives of disabled children, young people and their families.

All our core costs are met by our funding partners. This means that 100% of all donations are spent on providing additional services/equipment at Umbrella.

There are lots of ways you can raise money for us. You should find everything you need to get you going here

Volunteering with Umbrella is just the greatest way of making a real difference to someone else.

As a volunteer you can gain new skills, have fun and know that you are supporting Umbrella’s work to transform the lives of disabled children and their families

We offer lots of great volunteering opportunities. If you are aged 16 to 99, looking for a challenge, seeking new experiences and want to make a real difference to local children’s lives then this may be for you!

We have Volunteering roles to suit most people:

Volunteering with Children and Young People at Umbrella

Umbrella runs a number of groups for disabled children and young people during evenings, at weekends and during school holidays. We are always looking for volunteers to help run these groups. We ask you to bring along your energy and enthusiasm to help children and young people to have fun.

Volunteering with parents

We run a number of parent support groups and we need volunteers to meet, greet and make refreshments. We are developing one to one support to parents, where we are looking for volunteers who are parents or carers of disabled children to support other parents .

Umbrella is always looking to raise additional funds to support our valuable work. We have opportunities for enthusiastic people to help raise funds, from bucket collections to organising events to raise money.

Office Support

Umbrella welcomes volunteers to support the smooth running of the organisation, such as helping with admin or helping us claiming gift aid. Everything makes a real difference to us.

You will soon discover that we are a friendly, helpful and supportive team. We are passionate about what we do and hope you will join us on your journey to improve the quality of life for disabled children, young adults and their families.

We offer training and support to help you in your volunteering role. For volunteers with regular contact with vulnerable children and young people, all applications will be followed up with reference requests and in most cases an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
