Empowering Disabled Children, Young Adults And Their Families

Supporting disabled children, young adults and their families in Derby.

Umbrella is a local charity with centres at Umbrella House Mackworth and The Annie Hall Centre in Derby. We have been running since 1986 and we are currently supporting over 1,700 families in Derby and Derbyshire.

We offer a wide range of services for the entire family whether it’s a youth club, one-to-one support, family support group, or siblings club, we have something for everyone in the family.

We host an array of activities and events for all the family to enjoy.

Parents/carers and families can come along to our support groups held at venues in the City and County to meet like-minded people and talk about their experiences.

We strive to provide services for all children and young people irrespective of their disability.

We support children and adults aged up to 30 with any additional needs, including physical, sensory, learning and behavioural disabilities. Our services are person centred to meet individual needs.

Anyone can refer a child or young person to Umbrella including families, social workers, teachers and youth workers.

Get involved and learn new skills

Due to the nature of our work, we also offer volunteering opportunities. If you are interested in developing new skills and making a difference then we would love to hear from you.
