Adult Services
Umbrella’s Adult Services provide personalised support for disabled adults aged 18 up to their 31st birthday. We offer a range of opportunities designed to promote independence, develop life skills, improve health and wellbeing, encourage social connections, and most importantly, have fun.
You can access Umbrella’s Adult Services by using your Personal Budget, through self-funding or through the Day Opportunities Framework.
Who can access our Adult Services?
- Young Disabled aged 18 up to their 31st birthday.
- Those living in Derby or Derbyshire
- Those who would benefit from group activities, personal development, or developing independent living skills.
- Those with moderate to high or low to moderate levels of need (depending on service pathway)
- Those who would benefit from one-to-one support in the community.
The Services We Offer
- For young adults with moderate to high levels of need
- Offers group activities at Annie’s Place and out in the community
- Focuses on developing social, communication, and personal skills in a supportive environment
- Personalised one-to-one support in the community
- For young disabled adults with low to moderate levels of need
- Delivered within group settings
- Encourages independence through hands-on experiences and social interaction
- Services are offered at Annie's place or out in the community
In addition our adults’ service is able to:
- Deliver activities that explicitly focus on Developing Independent Living Skills
Activities focus on building the practical skills needed for independent or supported living, including meal planning and preparation, shopping, budgeting, household tasks, and personal care. - Supported Access to Specialist Interests
We provide supported access to specialist interests and opportunities, such as courses, workshops, and other activities that help individuals explore their passions and develop new skills. - Assistance With Finding Volunteering Opportunities
Supporting individuals to find and access volunteering opportunities through partnerships with external organisations and community groups, as well as smaller enterprise projects developed by Umbrella, including our allotment. - Recognising and Celebrating Achievements
We support individuals to recognise and celebrate their achievements, whether that’s reaching personal goals, developing new skills, or contributing to their community. We also host events such as the Daniel Richardson Awards, celebrating the accomplishments, progress and successes of the people we support.
How to Access
Families can contact our Family Support team directly, or professionals can refer on their behalf through our Single Point of Access.
Once we have received contact (phone, email, social media, or referral form), we aim to respond as quickly as possible.
