The aim of the Play and Leisure Service is to help promote specialist activities for children and young people with disabilities in their local area. We also provide exciting family activities and opportunities such as free Circus Starr Tickets; Staunton Harold family sailing days and the annual Umbrella Christmas Party.
Specialist Groups Held at Umbrella House.
- Tuesday Youth Club. Open to children aged 12 – 18 6.30pm – 8.30pm with occasional activities offsite.
The group is young person led; deciding what activities they would like to do over the coming months. These include movie & popcorn nights; arts & crafts, Wii tournaments and the Umbrella Bake Off!
The cost of the Club is £6.00 per session
- The Thursdays Is a specialist group running from 6.30pm – 8.30pm for children aged 12 – 18 yrs who have a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism and no additional learning needs. Again, the group is young person led and is mainly based at Umbrella House with occasional trips out in the community.

- TGIF Youth Group
Come along and meet new friends at the Umbrella Fortnightly Friday club. The group is for young adults age 16 – 30 who have a mild to moderate disability and are receiving no other services i.e. Direct payments; Short Breaks etc. The club is based at Umbrella House with occasional trips offsite in the community.
The group is from 6.30pm – 8.30pm and costs £6.00 per session
Umbrella Raindrops Choir
The Umbrella Raindrops meet on a Saturday morning from 11.00pm – 12.00pm at the Mackworth community centre.
The Choir is open to children and young people with disabilities and their siblings.
The Raindrops is a wonderful young person led Choir with the group putting forward songs they would like to sing. The Choir is very relaxed; there are no auditions, all singing abilities are welcome.

The Umbrella Raindrops are now quite famous following their appearance on BBCs Children In Need show in November 2018 where they sang live from Derby’s Qaud Centre!
